I am a psychologist, psychotherapist and pluralistic counsellor, I have been working and studying in the mental health field for 20 years and have a wealth of experience supporting clients with a variety of mental illnesses and struggling with a range of issues. I am passionate about the ability of the brain to heal and helping clients to understand how this is possible, enabling recovery, the strengthening of resilience and the ability to cope with life and the accompanying stressors in a much more effective way. This will greatly benefit yourself and others around you. It is my belief that each individual is the expert on themselves and therefore require differing approaches tailored to meet their needs.

I aim to be able to provide this safe space for you to work through issues that may be having a dramatic impact on both your mental and physical health, causing a catastrophic impact on your daily life. How to Improve Neuroplasticity
There are steps you can take to help encourage your brain to adapt and change, at any age.
Enrich Your Environment
Stimulating environments that offer plenty of opportunities for focused attention and challenge have been shown to stimulate the brain towards positive change. This is particularly important during childhood and adolescence when the brain is still developing, however it has been proven to provide desirable effects at any age..
Ideas to stimulate your brain:
Neuroplasticity and Rewiring The Brain
The Importance of sleep
Dendrites are the growths at the end of neurons that help transmit information from one neuron to the next.
Research has shown that sleep plays an important role in the growth of these dendrites. Our plasticity in the brain will increase when these are strengthened.
Sleep has been shown to have important effects on both physical and mental health. Some researchers suggest that this could be due to genetics and the grey matter make up of the brain.
There are various ways to improve sleep such as a consistent schedule and good sleep hygiene.
Exercise Regularly
The hippocampus is the part of the brain involved in memory. Regular exercise has a number of brain benefits. Some research indicates that exercise might help prevent neuron loss in key areas of the hippocampus. Other studies suggest that exercise plays an imperative part in new neuron formation in this same region.

Practice Mindfulness
Mindfulness is about the present moment, without ruminating over past or contemplating the future. Awareness of the sights, sounds, and sensations around you is key. Many studies have shown that the daily practice of mindfulness can strengthen resilience and build new neural pathways.
